Whats In My Festive Make Up Bag

whats in my festive make up bag, charlotte tilbury, mac cosmetics, bobbi brown, lancome, jo malone fragrance, party make up

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation | SHOP HERE
My absolute favourite foundation. I've been using this for two years now and I've not found anything better. The coverage is medium but buildable if you need it and it leaves the most beautiful subtle glow to the skin that looks like your skin but better. It photographs well (great bonus!) so it's perfect for evenings out as well as for the day time. If you haven't tried this I really recommend you do - you won't regret it!

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Bronze | SHOP HERE
I've tried a lot of highlighters and the reason I always gravitate towards this one is because it's so versatile. I use this as a highlight on my cheeks, as a bronzer to warm up my face and as an eyeshadow! The 5 colours in the palette can take your eyeshadow from day time to night time so it's always handy to have this compact on you.  If you use the lighter colours at the top of the palette you'll get a beautitful highlight to the skin, or if you use all colours mixed together you'll get a lovely bronze highlight and bronze colour on the skin. I definitely recommend this product and it's great to travel with.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Exposed | SHOP HERE
I picked this up at Sephora earlier this year and I was so surprised I hadn't tried any of Tarte's blushes before! It's a beautiful muted pink colour that's super easy to blend on the cheeks and lasts a long time. It's known for it's 12-hour wear and I definitely can't fault that, it's perfect for those days you want your make up to last. The formula includes natural clay from the Amazon River so it's good for your skin as well as lasting all day.

Lancome Hypnose Mascara | SHOP HERE
This mascara may be on the more pricey side but it's worth every penny. I find that this gives me both length and volume with only a few coats. I normally like to mix a few mascaras because I love the look of full lashes but only using this one gives me the same effect. I always travel with this mascara too and it's great to have with you for touch ups.

Mac Gel Eyeliner in Blacktrack | SHOP HERE
I can't recall how long I've been using this gel eyeliner for. I first purchased it back in 2012 and it's been a staple in my make up bag ever since. I like to use a liquid eyeliner too sometimes but when I want my make up to last all day I find that this gel eyeliner works better.

Mac Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo | SHOP HERE
Can we just take a second to appreciate how stunning this lip colour is? This is my perfect red lipstick, it's matte and it stays on the lips all day. I tend to wear this lipstick with Nars Cruella and it's a perfect combination. If you're looking for affordable red lipsticks check out my blog post I did here all about them!

Jo Malone London Vanilla & Anise | SHOP HERE
This may not be a festive scent but it's my favourite one at the moment. The sweet undertones of vanilla make this such a lovely and warm scent that's also not too heavy or overbearing. If you like scents like Victor & Rolf flower bomb, you'll love this one. I love that Jo Malone have their smaller perfumes as they're a great way of trying scents and not committing to a full bottle.

The Best Winter Candles

Source

I think it's safe to say that if you ask a girl what they love having around the house to decorate - you can be sure that one of the answers will be candles.  I want to talk about Winter candles because since we're spending so much time indoors, it's nice to have candles and scents around the house to make your space cosy.

Diptyque | Figuire Scent Candle
Diptyque are one of the best candle brands on the market and the Figuire scent is perfect for Winter. They are pricey so if they're out of your budget I think these would make great Christmas presents so definitely add them to your wishlist!

Jo Malone London | Pomegranite Noir
Pomegranate Noir is one of my favourite scents of all time. It's a Jo Malone classic, but it's extra special around this time of year because the deep pomegranate undertones make any house smell festive.

Cocolux | Island Fig, Cassis & Peach
This may not be your typical winter candle, but it's one to keep for after Christmas for relaxing. Perfect to burn when you're alone or with family, the sweet scent will warm up the room and the fig undertones will give a hint of Winter.

Diptyque Limited Edition | Sapin
The packaging alone for these candles say it all. The mandarin undertones in this candle make it a fresh choice for the festive season. The packaging mimics pine tries and this woody scent is perfect for the colder months.

Neom Organics London | Time To Unwind
I love this candle because it's so calming and soothing. Things can get a little hektik around this time of year and having a candle like this one lets your house infused with calming smells. I love the simple packaging and I love that this candle burns evenly so you won't ever have to fuss around with it.

A good budget friendly candle is this Linea one which is a perfect stocking filler or gift for £8 and this White Company Winter candle. You can also check out my Gift Guides (here and here) if you need more ideas for presents. What are your favourite winter candles? A xx

Best In Beauty: New UK Launches

This is a topic I've wanted to talk about for a while as I've seen some amazing beauty products that have just launched here in the UK. As a beauty blogger, I like to read articles and look through beauty websites to get an idea of when and what beauty brands are launching new products. Towards the end of this year there's been quite a few launches that I thought some were worthy to mention. Some of these products that I've mentioned aren't extremely new, but with Christmas coming up I thought they would also make great gifts.

Jaclyn Hill x Champagne Pop available on Space NK now & on Cult Beauty on the 17th
This is definitely one to try. The highly praised highlighter created by Becca Cosmetics in collaboration with Jacyln Hill has been a knockout beauty product. If you like highlighters that are pigmented but look natural on the skin, this is the one for you. What I love about Champagne Pop is that it's not sparkly like some of the other highlighters I own - the gold undertones in this products leaves a luminous finish on the skin.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminators are available on Cult Beauty
The highly anticipated contour kit by Anastasia Beverly Hills has been out in the UK for some time now, but that's not what I'm here to talk about. The brand new Illuminators are the ones to look out for! They come in four shades, and are famously known to be used by the Kardashians (in shade 'So Hollywood.') These have just come back into stock so get them before they're gone!

Morphe Brushes 35 colour eyeshadow palettes and brushes are now available on Cult Beauty
If there's one thing thats an absolute steal, it's this palette by Morphe Brushes. Each eyeshadow palette includes 35 different eyeshadows for £21! The value is incredible and it's perfect if you're just starting out in beauty and want a big variation of eyeshadows. They also have an 11 piece brush set for £31.50 which is amazing considering a high end brush retails for around that same price! Getting 11 for the price of one is definitely one not to miss!

Becca Cosmetics is now available at Space NK
I know Becca Cosmetics have been available in the UK at Space NK for a while, but they have recently launched their Ombre edition eyeshadow palettes which are beautiful. Including 5 shades in the palette, they're perfect to have with you on the go and you can create both day time and night time looks with the palette. They have a variation of colour available but my favourite is the Ombre Rouge palette featuring warm toned plums and browns.

Which beauty launches are you most excited for? Have you tried out any of the products I've mentioned? Thanks for reading - A xx

5 Affordable Red Lipsticks

We all know a red lip is perfect for this time of year. Finding your perfect shade of red can be hard, but it makes things a little easier when you're searching for lipsticks that are affordable and won't break the bank. As much as I love my high end reds, I think there are equally as good lipsticks and formulas in the drugstores (Boots and Superdrug for us UK readers and Walgreens and CVS for the US readers!)

I've gone through my red lipstick collection and found the best formulas and colours that are universally suitable for all skin types.

This is my Number.1 when it comes to an affordable red lipstick. The Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick is a perfect deep red which looks stunning on the lips and photographs beautifully. The formula of this lipstick goes on like butter and stays on the lips throughout the day. I first saw my friend wearing this with a minimal eye make up look and when she told me her lipstick was this Rimmel one, I was shocked. The quality is extremely good and the pigmented lasts on the lips - an all around great red lipstick that every girl should own. At £5.49 you really can't go wrong with this lipstick!

I first came across these L'oreal lipsticks when I was looking at their nude and pink shades. I immediately swatched Blake's Red and I couldn't get over the colour. This one is brighter than the Rimmel one, and it's matte which is one of my favourite formulas for lipsticks. This collaboration may not be around for long so I'd definitely recommend getting your hands on one before they're gone!

Maybelline's lipstick in Red Revival is the newest addition to my red lipsticks. This formula is different from any other red lipsticks I own as it's moisturising and sits well with the lips and doesn't dry them out. Sometimes when my lips are feeling dry, matte lipsticks aren't the best formula's to go for so this is why I recommend checking this one out during the Winter. I love that the colour is quite pigmented but if you apply it like you're almost blotting it on the lips it'll give a leave a beautiful rosy finish that's almost like a stain. Definitely one to check out!

Really Red is a cool toned matte red lipstick. This goes on smooth and stays on (I wore this at dinner last week and it was still on my lips after eating and drinking!) I would say this Revlon lipstick is an exact dupe for Mac's Russian Red Lipstick. The colour is one of my favourites out of my red lipstick collection as it looks extremely flattering and goes with any make up look.

L'oreal are probably one of the best brands at the drugstore and there's a reason for that. They're lipsticks are always ones I've loved and kept repurchasing. True Red is exactly what the name describes: a true, beautiful red. This lipstick is the show stopper of my red lipsticks as it's the one that stands out the most on my lips. It reminds me of Nars' Jungle Red lipstick, an almost fiery red that is perfect for a festive look. I think this would look stunning if you were to create a smokey eye with golds. Not to mention, this lipstick has been featured by Allure as one of the best affordable red lipsticks.

What are some of your favourite affordable red lipsticks? Let me know in the comments below. A xx

Getting Christmas Party Ready

With Christmas parties and events just around the corner, I wanted to help you get your christmas party wardrobe sorted and compile a list of everything you may need -  outfits, beauty looks and accessories! Shopping at this time of year can be stressful and overwhelming, especially with everyone getting last minute presents and looking for christmas outfits, it's much easier to shop online. I've broken down this guide into each category to help split up what exactly you're looking for.

The Outfit: This is the time of year to go all out. Christmas parties are always a lot of fun, and it's the one time that you should just go with whatever you want your outfit and make up to be without thinking it's too much. If you're celebrating with work or colleagues you'll want something a little understated and classic so I've listed some of my favourite dresses below, along with several other options.

THE CLASSIC LBD:

THE SEQUIN PARTY DRESS:

THE SOPHISTICATED DRESS:

THE SHOW STOPPER:

The Make Up: I say that this festive season you should wear a bold lip. It makes your make up stand out from the rest. Opt for either a minimal or smokey eye, whichever your preference, and pair it with a bold lip to have it all come together. My favourite bold lip picks are Nars Charlotte Lipstick, Charlotte Tilbury's Red Carpet Red and Mac Ruby Woo. Scroll through my beauty picks:

THE FLAWLESS BASE:

Tip: I recommend Nars Sheer glow if you want good coverage and long lasting wear. For bronzer, I prefer the Mac Matte Bronzer which is perfect for contouring and warming up the face.

THE SMOKEY EYE:

Tip: When working with a smokey eye, do your eye make up first and then your base. I recommend blending everything out with a warm toned bronzer to get rid of any harsh shades.

RED / BERRY LIPS:

Tip: Blot your lipstick after application so that you ensure it lasts all day on the lips.

The Accessories: Shoes and bags. I always think with so much going on with the outfit and the make up, I would keep the shoes and bag simple. Opt for simple black or nude heels, or if you're outfit is simple go for something a little bold. You may not have the chance to change your heels at work so I've listed some work appropriate ones that will take you into the evening too!

THE KILLER HEELS:

THE DRESSED UP BOOTS:

Do you feel ready for your Christmas party yet? Being a full time blogger means no Christmas work do, but that's not stopping me from investing in some dresses that will be useful all year round. I hope you've found this helpful - you can tweet me or let me know on Instagram! Thanks for reading as always - A xx

5 Things I've Learnt From Blogging

I'm currently sitting at my desk, in complete shock that I've just erased all the photos from my blog on my Google+ profile. I don't know how I managed to do this, I know I'm not the most tech-savvy person so I shouldn't have really been playing around on Google+ not knowing what I'm doing. That being said, I don't have a back up of photos on my laptop as it decided to completely break down and wipe itself over the summer. So, I'm kind of just sitting here frantically trying to recover the photos and blog content, but more importantly, I'm in a predicament: either I can worry about everything I've lost, the detailed photos I spent a good amount of time taking, or just take this as a lesson and know not to mess around with platforms I'm not experienced in. Today's blog post was going to be an exciting Christmas Party Outfit post, but with spending the whole morning and afternoon panicking and trying to get everything back up and running, I've decided to do a chatty post and turn this into 5 things I've learnt from blogging. Follow me here to see tomorrow's fun and exciting Christmas post! Let's get started.

1. Don't Take It So Seriously
I think it's easy to get overwhelmed with blogging: deadlines, blogging regularly and the expectations that come along with it. With everything that just happened and losing every photo on my blog, I just kind of sat back and thought - it's bad but it's not the end of the world. Finding a happy balance with blogging is important and it will make the whole process a lot more fun! Everyone's in it together and we're all on the same page, so have fun with it and let the creative process flow.

2. Numbers Aren't Everything
It's easy to get lost in the number game and dwell on why other bloggers get more followers than you, and why you're blog hasn't got more. Trust me, it's not all about the numbers. Letting your blog grow organically is the best way to get a true following and expand your blog. Creating good content and blogging regularly is a good way of getting your numbers up, but go with your own schedule and not what you think you should be doing. Eventually you will see your blog growing and the hard work always pays off.

3. Your Beginning Might Be Someone Else's Middle
Going off from the last point, it's important not to compare your blog with someone elses. I know it's easier said than done as we all have a competitive nature naturally within us, especially when it comes to something we're passionate about where we want to do the best we can. Believe me, you're already doing good. Don't get disheartened if another blogger is getting more recognition than you, because everything takes time and it will happen to you too. It's all about timing: with the exception of some blogs growing quickly, it takes time and effort to get your blog noticed and rewarded.

4. Let Your Personality Shine Through
Blogging has become so mainstream these days that it's easy to get lost in the amount of blogs there are out there. It's important to have your own voice and let your personality shine through. Having a voice in your content makes the reader feel like they're talking to you and you will get a lot more followers if they feel like they can relate to you, rather than someone being cold.

5. Have Fun With Your Content
The most important thing I've learnt from blogging - have fun with it! It's an amazing platform where you can connect with others and learn a lot as a person. If you love what you're doing, you won't feel like you're working and I think that really applies to bloggers. People blog because they love what their talking about and feel passionate about it, so it makes for great content and lets the fun part come through!

What are things you've learnt from blogging? Let me know in the comments below. A xx

The Everyday Lipsticks

For a day to day look, I always reach for a nude lipstick. I like to keep my make up simple and I find that these lipsticks always work with my everyday look. I think it can be quite hard to find the perfect shade for your skin type - some lipsticks can be too pink, some too nude and some too pale. I have olive undertones in my skin (Mac NC37-40 for reference) and I find that these lipsticks work perfectly. I also know a couple of my friends who have paler skin than me and these match perfectly on them too. It's all about what shade you're looking for and what works well with you.

I think nude lipsticks can get neglected around this time of year. Everybody's reaching for reds or a deep colour as it's Winter, which I do sometimes too, but I find that when I switch back to these for a daily look I never know why I changed in the first place! I carry quite a few make up products in my handbag daily as it's good to have products to touch up and these 3 will always be with me no matter what.. (excessive? maybe.)

Mac Velvet Teddy (available here)

I (and everyone else) like to call this the 'Kylie Jenner lipstick'. It's the perfect everyday nude with a hint of warmness in the undertone to make it incredibly flattering on the lips. Suitable for all skin types, this is the perfect everyday lipstick. It makes lips appear fuller and it's matte formula ensures that it stays put all day - so it's perfect for long days at the office or long evenings out where you want your lipstick to last. This lipstick has been in and out of stock for almost a year now so I would grab it before it goes again!

L'oreal Colour Riche Moisture Matte Lipstick 640 (available here)

This L'oreal lipstick is a steal from the drugstore. At only £6.99, you can't go wrong with a matte lipstick. I always have this lipstick in my handbag and like using it on it's own or mixed with other lipsticks. The shade 640 is a deep nude / almost berry colour that is extremely flattering on the lips. It applies smooth and stays put all day. It also has an effect of making your lips look bigger than they are so I never need to pair this with a lip liner. I would highly recommend this formula as it's not drying and doesn't make lips go flakey like some matte lipsticks would do. They have a stunning red shade (here) in this lipstick which is also perfect for the festive season!

When these lipsticks came out about a year ago, I immediately knew I had to try them. When I saw them displayed on the Nars counter I gravitated towards the shade Barbara as it looked right up my street. This is a more cool toned nude with a little hint of brown, but again not too heavy or overbearing, which makes it perfect for everyday use. The packaging is the best part about this product as the black slick packaging is magnetic which means you're lipstick lid will not fall off in your handbag (girls - you know what I'm talking about!) I would highly recommend checking out these Nars Lipsticks as they come in a variation of shades and are super long lasting.

What are your everyday lipsticks? Be sure to follow me on Bloglovin and Instagram to keep updated with new posts! I'm taking part in blogmas and blogging everyday until Christmas!

The Ultimate Christmas Gift Guide: For Her

Christmas Gift Guide, gift guide, shopping, beauty, luxury christmas present, present, gifts, make up, bronzer, foundation, selfridges, space nk, hourglass, nars cosmetics

If you're anything like me, I always leave buying Christmas presents to the last minute and end up rushing around on Christmas eve to make sure I've got everything! The Perfect Winter Eyeshadows

Around this time of year I love focusing on the eye make up. There's no better time to rock a smokey eye than in winter, especially with contoured skin and a nude lip. If you're going for a bold lip, I would recommend wearing one single dark eyeshadow on the eyes paired with some liner, and you're good to go.

Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette in Dolce Vita link
I've had this for over a year now and it's still my go-to when creating any eye look. No matter what look I'm going for, I always find myself reaching for this palette to top up my eye make up with at least one of the colours. My favourite is the deep burgundy, I think it looks stunning on the eye as an eyeshadow and crease colour. Charlotte Tilbury have a variation of eyeshadow palettes depending on your favourite colours and looks.

Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Isolde link
Typically golds aren't the type of eyeshadow I go for, but this eyeshadow palette is something else. The gold is a deep gold that works extremely well with brown eyes, and the bronze colour is the perfect smokey eye shadow. Wearing them both together works well but they also go well on their own. I would definitely recommend you check it out next time you're near a Nars counter!

Mac Eyeshadow in Antiqued link
This eyeshadow is the perfect copper toned burgundy. I love these colours around this time of the year as they just add warmth to the eyes and make the colours stand out more. This is great to wear on it's own, or you can pair it with a darker colour to create a smokey eye.

What are your favourite eyeshadow's this time of year? A xx

5 Things You Should Do In London This Month

Today I wanted to talk about 5 fun things you can do in London this month. Whether you live here or just visiting, London can be quite hectic at times as there's always a lot going on. Living here I tend to go to the same places and I always say I need to explore more areas and find more things to do - so now I don't have an excuse! Hopefully this will help you explore new events too!

1. Winter Wonderland | Hyde Park
This is hands down the most fun part about Christmas in London! I love Winter Wonderland, whether you're going just for a drink with friends or going on the rides - it's extremely fun. There are tons of food trucks, small boutique stores and festive shops which will get you in the Christmas spirit. It can get quite busy at times and if you want to go ice skating I would book well in advance.

2. Ice Skating At Somerset House
I think ice skating around this time of year is a lot of fun. You can go with go with a group of friends or family, or even a loved one and celebrate. I love going to ice skate and then grabbing some dinner near the area, it always makes for a really nice evening.

3. Southbank Centre Christmas Market
If you like Christmas markets, this one's for you. The Southbank Christmas market is full of stands and shops to get you in the holiday spirit. There's a lot of great food so make sure you walk around before choosing where to eat!

4. Etsy Made Local | Soho
This one's for the bloggers. Etsy are hosting a Christmas market which features all the local creators from the area all come together. You can shop and get exclusive deals on the evening you go. It's going to be in London's Soho area on December 4th, 5th and 6th. Make sure you have it in your diary so you don't forget the dates!Find more information here.

5. See The Christmas Tree At Claridges
I think this is must see for those who are into fashion in London. This year, Burberry's Christopher Bailey has designed the tree presented in the entrance of Claridges. Every year a different brand gets to design the tree and this year it definitely didn't disappoint!

Do you have any suggestions for things to do in London? Hope you enjoyed this post. A xx

November Beauty Favourites

Happy first day of December! We're getting extremely close to Christmas and now it's totally acceptable to be in full Christmas swing! As another month has come and gone by it's time to talk about monthly favourites.  I don't write these posts as much as I'd like to but they're one of my favourite posts to read on blogs and watch on Youtube. This month features a lot of skin products because I've tried so many over the past few weeks, and there are some products that I know I'll be loving throughout the year.

Chanel Soliel Tan De Chanel Bronze Universal
I picked up this bronzer over the summer as I was really into cream products to give a more natural look. I've been wearing this in November and I love how subtle the bronzer can be and just add some warmth to your face. I'd definitely recommend this bronzer and they last a good while. (click here to shop)

Mac Pro Longwear Concealer
This concealer has been hyped up a lot so I knew I had to try it. I really didn't have high expecatations because I've already found my favourite HG concealer (Laura Mercier Secret Camoflauge.) It's great for highlighting under the eye and it really brightens and covers up. A little bit goes a long way and it's become my go-to concealer this month. (click here to shop)

Charlotte Tilbury Cheek To Chic Blusher in Ectasy
I'm surprised I haven't mentioned this product before because its amazing. It's one of the most pigmented blushes I own and the colour is a perfect peachy pink. It lasts all day on the skin and isn't too shimmery either. The best thing about this product? The way it photographs. It honestly makes your cheeks look airbrushed and the colour appears so beautiful. (click here to shop)

Kevyn Aucoin Candlelight Highlighter
This is such an underrated highlighter. I love how subtle it is and you can use all over the skin without looking shiny. I use this as an eyeshadow and brow highlight too and it's perfect. (click here to shop)

Mac Pro Longwear Lip Liner in 'Morning Coffee'
I came across this product when I was browsing through Mac. I've picked up quite a few of their lip liners so I've become familiar with the shades but I had never heard of this one when I saw it. It's a beautiful rose / brown liner (a little bit darker then Spice for reference) and I love the formula and how easy it goes on. (click here to shop)
