SPF That Works | Face & Body

There’s been a lot of talk about SPF lately. I think it’s fair to say we all know the importance of protecting our skin against UV damage, and the damages it can cause.  This can be done in a multitude of ways, but the most effective way of preventing sun damage is using a decent amount of SPF. SPF can come in all shapes and forms (and by this, I mean quantities and measures.)

The key to finding a SPF that works for you is to start with your own beauty regime. If you apply a moisturizer in the morning, does it have SPF? Does your foundation / tinted moisturizer have SPF in it? If you live somewhere where there’s more sunshine than rain, I’d highly recommend using a product that has SPF within it to avoid layers of products going on your skin. The Clarins UV Plus SPF 50 is a great base to use before your foundation, it not only provides SPF but ensures your skin is clear of pollution and daily harms. Clinique's SPF 30 cream is a great face cream that feels extremely lightweight and blends into the skin. If you're looking for a good base with SPF, I'd go for the the Nars Velvet Skin Tint, with a decent SPF 30 to go along with it.

When you’re packing for a holiday away in the sunshine, taking SPF is incredibly important. Opt for one with 30+ for your body and face as this will give you a decent amount of coverage. The Darphin SPF30 Soleil Plaisir is great – it lasts on the skin and you don’t need to reapply as often as others. If you're going to be in the pool and the sea, go for a waterproof formula that will last throughout the day. I recommend the Lancaster Sun Sport SPF 50, which is great as it stays on throughout the day no matter how much you're splashing around.  Lancaster are a great brand so I'd definitely look into them if you're looking for SPF.

What are your favourite SPF's? Have you used any of these? Let me know if you give these a go. A xx

Urban Decay Summer 2016 Collection

The Urban Decay summer collection is one of my favourites that have launched for Summer 2016. The collection features a new BB cream, bronzer, glide on eye pencils and afterglow highlighters. I've had the chance to try the new BB cream which I've reviewed below and I can't wait to try more products from the collection.

Urban Decay Naked Skin One And Done Hybrid BB CreamThe concept of a good base mixed in with SPF with a tinted moisturiser finish almost sounds too good to be true. The Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done bb cream is a lightweight tinted moisturiser that leaves a beautiful sheer finish to the skin. It contains SPF 20 which protects against sun damage and has nourishing ingredients that benefits the skin.

I seemingly doubted this product at first, despite the raves and reviews it got, but once I tried it I was blown away. For someone who likes a medium coverage, I found this very flattering on the skin and covered a lot more than I had hoped for. Once applied, it leaves a glowy finish and sits on the skin throughout the day. If you're more on the combination/oily side, I would powder this so it doesn't move around but if you've got dry skin, then let it do the work and expect youthful glowing skin.

Urban Decay Beached Bronzer: The bronzer comes in two shades: sunkissed and bronzed. I love that both these bronzers are matte as I feel like there aren't enough matte bronzers on the market. These are great for contouring and for adding warmth to the skin: a definite handbag essential in the summer!

Urban Decay Afterglow Highlighter: Available in three shades. Sin: a champagne highlight that looks beautiful on olive skin tones. Aura: a light reflective pink that's the most subtle out of the three highlights. Fireball: a peachy shade that looks beautiful as a blush and looks beautiful on tan skin.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on eye Pencil (currently 10% off normal price!): Walk of shame and heartless are the two new eyeliner shades. Walk of shame is a nude that's perfect for the waterline and under the brow bone. Heartless is a pretty light pink shade that would look stunning paired with some warm eyeshadows and strong lashes.

Will you be trying anything from this collection? A xx

May | Monthly Wishlist + More

@alarabasul
There's been a lot going on beauty-wise in the past few weeks. Since working at Cosmopolitan, I've had the opportunity to learn about new launches and products, as well as get a good insight to which products are ultimate HG material and some limited edition products that you should definitely check out before they're gone (but more of that later.) First, here are some products that I'm currently coveting:

Secondly, there are some beauty launches that I think are definitely worth the hype. Mac Versicolour Lip Stains, £20 are amazing: they glide on like butter, sit softly on the lips and have good lasting power. Face masks have been a huge hit lately, and I'd recommend to try the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Mask, £16 for a great healthy boost to the skin. Jo Malone have just launched a spring fragrance, Nashi Blossom, and it's everything you imagined and more. It not only smells beautiful, with a reach floral scent but it also looks beautiful with intricate packaging. On the fashion front, a launch that blew my expectations was the Ivy Park x Topshop launch. I've tried a couple of pieces from the collection (Ivy Park print sports bra + mesh leggings) and the fabric, finish and quality is amazing.

Have a great start to the month! A xx
